Swapan Chattopadhyay

Prof. Swapan Chattopadhyay is a particle and accelerator physicist currently on the Faculty of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley, and associated with the Leinweber Institute of Theoretical Physics. He earned his PhD in Physics from UC Berkeley in 1982, completed postdoctoral research at CERN, and has held senior scientific leadership roles at LBNL, Jefferson Lab, the Cockcroft Institute, Fermilab, SLAC/Stanford, and Northern Illinois University.

His work spans high-energy particle colliders, beam physics, exotic light sources, free-electron lasers, ultrafast science, and quantum science and technology, including contributions to the development of the U.S. Department of Energy's Quantum Science program. He is a Fellow of the APS, AAAS, IoP, RSA, an International Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and a member of AMCS.
